M.A.Center donates $1M to Bush-Clinton Katrina Fund.
Our many thanks to Amma's admirers who came forward to donate to
the Katrina relief after hearing Amma's pledge and made this donation
possible. Moreover, Amma's admirers throughout America also held
several fundraising events for the Katrina victims and to make Amma's
$1M pledge a reality.
8 December 2005 -- New York, New York, USA

The Mata Amritanandamayi Center in the United States handed over
$1 million to the Bush-Clinton Katrina Fund to aid hurricane recovery
efforts in the Gulf Coast area of the United States.
Swami Ramakrishnananda and Brahmachari Dayamrita Chaitanya--
representing the M.A. Center--met former President Clinton on 8th
December 2005 in his offices in Harlem, New York City, where they
handed over the check.
The donation is one of the largest the Fund--which is run by former
U.S. presidents George Bush, Senior and Bill Clinton--has received
from a non-government organization to date.
The Gulf Coast region was devastated by Hurricane Katrina in September
2005. M.A. Center and its affiliates actively participated in bringing
relief to Katrina survivors in the weeks immediately following the
disaster. They provided food, clothing, school supplies and gave
emotional support.
