Hope
and Refuge
Disaster
Relief operations of the M.A.Math and the M.A.Centers around
the world.
The disaster relief operations for the past two years of the
M.A.Math and the M.A.Centers across the world has been overwhelming.
The M.A.Math and M.A.Center volunteers were one among the
first to be of help to the victims at the disaster sites.
Their inspiration coming from Amma who was the first to act,
spread like a contagious fire to the others and soon there
were volunteers coming from all over the world to the disaster
stricken areas. If we see the number of permanent homes, the
amount of food, medical help and free education being given
to the disaster victims within a year, one can compare the
whole achievement to be a miracle! According to Amma love
can achieve anything and everything in this world.
With the advent of the New
Year, let us pray that such disasters do not occur again.
Let us draw inspiration from those selfless workers who made
a difference to so many lives and thereby made their lives
meaningful too!

The
online auction has been a big support and contribution for
the various humanitarian activities of the M.A.Math.
Here is brief report of how the auctions have helped in the
past:
The first auction, in the spring of 2002, brought in enough
funds to
build 21 houses in India for the poor. Proceeds
from the second auction contributed
to 54 houses.
The 2005 auction directly supported Amma's Tsunami Relief
Efforts.
Proceeds from the auction contributed to the "Tsunami
Housing Project in Sri Lanka"
and adopted more than 500 children orphaned by the
Tsunami.
Thanks to everybody, who participated in supporting this special
event.
The 2006 Online Auction starts
on the auspicious occasion of the New
Year, January 1st and ends on January 14th, 2006.

English subtitles, Amma's bhajans, Swami talks, and other
spiritual discourses. Also, the Amritavarsham program is shown
twice during the weekend in English, and twice during the

Question:
Most spiritual masters tell their disciples
to forget about the past and future, and to live in the present
moment. How is it possible for ordinary people?
Amma:
What you have said about the concerns
of most people is correct. No one can deny the reality of
an ordinary individual's day-to-day worries. It is also true
that his dreams about the future inspire him to work and to
fulfill his dreams. The real question, however, is whether
there is any benefit to be had in regretting the past or being
anxious about the future.
You can plan your dinner, but not while preparing your lunch.
Don't think about how much salt you will use in tonight's
meal while adding salt to the soup you are cooking now. And
don't regret that the soup you made yesterday wasn't a success.
Just concentrate on the soup that is boiling on the stove
at this moment.
