Tsunami homes in Andaman islands - The M.A.Math laid the first foundation stone for the 100 Tsunami-relief houses it has committed to build in Bamboo Flat, South Andaman on September 10, 2006. It is estimated that the construction of the hundred houses will be finished within one year by the M.A.Math

Happy parents - Priya and her husband lost their two children in the fateful Tsunami of 2004. Devastated, the childless couple considered themselves doomed forever. Amma offered to Priya and many other women in a similar situation as hers to have fallopian-tube-recanalisation surgery done under the sponsorship of the Mata Amritanandamayi Math. Priya and her husband are today proud parents of a new-born baby girl! Thanks to M.A.Math and to AIMS, the super-specialty hospital of the math, priya and her husband see new meaning and hope in their lives today.

Meditation for prisoners in New Mexico - Steve Schmidt, an approved Integrated Amrita Meditation technique teacher, taught this form of yoga and meditation technique to the juvenile detainees in the Santa Fe Juvenile Detention Home in New Mexico.

Recalling the first session back in June, Schmidt says the effect of the meditation on the kids was palpable. He says, "After we finished with the meditation the second time, there was a quiet that pervaded the whole atmosphere.

" Teaching-mate Crews felt agrees: "Yes, they got so quiet. The first time we chanted 'Om,' there was a lot of goofing around and chuckling, but when we chanted it to conclude the class, they were really focused." Schmidt says that the juvenile detainees claim improved energy and peace of mind since regularly practicing IAM.

A brief excerpt from Lord Krishna's answer : "One who in proper measure eats and plays, applies himself to work, sleeps and keeps awake, achieves Yoga that destroys all pains.

"When the well-controlled mind abides solely in the Self(one's own soul), rid of cravings for objects of desires, one is said to be integrated in Yoga.

"As a flame in a windless spot stirs not - this is the simile of the Yogin whose mind is controlled and who applies himself to Yoga."
