Amrita
Institute of Technology and Science (AITEC) offers seven
branches of study. AITEC is a harmonious blend of Indian spiritual
ethics and advancement in technology. The culture and teachings
of the Sanatana (Eternal) Dharma, along with modern technology,
offer an ideal symbiosis of science and spirituality.
On Wednesday, September 18th, 2002, at 9 am, the Amrita Institute
of Technology and Sciences - Mata Amritanandamayi Math's first engineering
college in the state of Karnataka, was inaugurated by Shri Ananthkumar,
The Honorable Union Minister for Urban Development and Poverty Alleviation,
at Kasavanahalli. Located 17 KM away from the city in a sprawling
campus of 23 acres, the college has been built at a cost of Rs.
8 crores. Shri. Ananthkumar, in his inaugural address, said that
this college was a flower of knowledge which Amma has dedicated
to the technological city of Bangalore. He also said that he hoped
the fragrance of this flower would waft all throughout the state,
while praising the multifarious service activities of Mata Amritanandamayi
Math.
The principles expounded in the establishment of Amrita Institutions
are succinctly represented in the motto of the ashram. "Thyagenaike
Amritatwamanashuhu" (Through sacrifice alone is immortality
attained), and that of the Institute, "Shraddhavan Labhate
Jnanam" (Knowledge is gained through devout application).
