Br. Dayamrita Reports

San Ramon, CA
September 18, 2005

Having recently traveled throughout the Gulf Region, I saw first hand, emergency services hard at work providing food, cloths and medical treatment to Hurricane Survivors. Eventually though, these relief organizations will be redirected, leaving Hurricane Victims in need of long term emotional and spiritual support.

Amma's message has been clear and straight forward, 'Help in all ways possible.'

One doesn't need further instruction. There are so many things we can do including writing letters to Hurricane Survivors (Circle of Love), visiting a Relief Centers (or transplanted Hurricane Victims in your area) and just talking with them one on one. As I discovered, sometimes a Hurricane Victim just needed someone willing to listen, who cares about their circumstances.

An Amma based Katrina Relief effort is now underway to communicate and connect those wishing to serve. If you write to seva@ammachi.org, we will forward your e-mail to the regional coordinator in your area.

Many have asked me about fundraising. Amma is not asking for donations. If devotees and satsangs spontaneously conduct fundraisers or generously send donations, the proceeds will be put to good use. 100% of the donations marked Katrina Relief will be used for Hurricane Victims Relief.

As with September 11th donations, we will identify needs overlooked by other relief agencies and make a difference wherever we can.

May our sincere prayers and good actions assist the hurricane survivors as they face the enormous challenges of restarting their lives in the days ahead.

Namah Sivaya,

Br. Dayamrita.
