- A Report of yearly accomplishments
Amma's philosophy for AIMS hospital has been to provide the very
best in modern healthcare to everyone in a spirit of caring and
compassion. Unlike any other of its kind, more than 50% of the treatments
provided by AIMS are charitable. A remarkable accomplishment for
a super-specialty hospital.
During the calendar year 2002, free in-patient treatments and major
financial concessions or subsidies were extended to 16884 patients
amongst various specialties.

Amongst 16884 treatments in 2002:

Major surgeries or procedures done in various specialties like
Cardiovascular, Neuro-Surgery, Gastrointestinal surgery etc.,
free of cost, were extended to 683 patients from economically
weaker sections.

Free ophthalmic surgeries were done to 742 patients selected
from various eye camps conducted in villages.

The percentage of in-patients who received free or subsidized
treatment constituted about 62% of total patients admitted in
the hospital.

In addition, 7003 persons received free out patient treatment.
Major
surgeries or procedures done in various specialties like Cardiovascular,
Neuro-Surgery, Gastrointestinal surgery etc., free of cost, were
extended to 683 patients from economically weaker sections. in various
specialties, 1364 inpatients were given totally free inpatient treatment
in 2001.
In 2001, free treatment was given to 4047 inpatients, constituting
more than 20 percent of the total inpatient population. During that
same year (2001), major financial concessions were granted to 9945
inpatients, constituting 49% of the inpatient population. Additionally,
for medical management, observation and stabilization in various
specialties, 1364 inpatients were given totally free inpatient treatment
in 2001.
