Pioneering Tele-Endoscopy & Retinal Tele-Laser Surgery Performed
December 2007 Thirteen patients underwent Tele-endoscopy procedure and two patients underwent Telelaser Surgery in our telemedicine mobile unit which was transmitted realtime using the INSAT 3E satellite to our Telemedicine Center at AIMS. The teleconnectivity link was established using an extended C-band antenna control unit to facilitate the signal transmission and reception process.
AIMS is the first to do this pioneering procedure using telemedicine technology in all of South Asia. It is our hope that this new technology will make specialty health care affordable and accessible for the needy. This would not have been possible without the wholehearted cooperation and enthusiasm of our Doctors, Biomedical Engineers, Endoscopy technicians, Camp Office staff, entire Telemedicine Team, Electrical and Vehicles department for the smooth coordination of the programme.
