The Gift of a Letter
A
year ago a defense attorney recommended one of her clients to Circle
of Love Inside. She said he had no contacts in the outside world
except for her and so, received no letters.
The first letter we received back from this Christian young man
was full of bravado. For the past year two letter writing volunteers
have been writing to him. At Christmas he sent me a card with this
note enclosed.
"Both ____ and ____ are encouraging inspirational aspects of
my life.
They've restored within me the hope that good people still exist
in
this predominantly anti-prisoner society….
…I have acquired a profound love and respect for Amma and
greatly
desire to hug her some day (God willing) not to reap her spiritual
power but to evoke it as a form of gratitude for how her love has
trickled into others, [and] found its way into my life, and my desire
to positively impact people."
When we touch lives of people in prison, they often refer their
cellmates and incarcerated friends to us. Circle of Love inside
now
has a list of 30 people who have requested letters. Some have heard
of Amma. Some are simply isolated and never receive letters or
visitors.
When you write a letter to someone in prison, you show up as Amma's
love in someone's life who may not have experienced much love or
caring. By doing this, you can help start their healing journey.
To
volunteer to write letters to someone in prison as part of Amma's
prison outreach,
please contact: circle.of.love.inside@gmail.com
and we will send you information about the program.
