From my heart to yours - "Thank you"

Dear Dayamritaswami and other M.A.Center staff,

I received a wonderful thank you letter today from a young man in a
state prison in Northern California. He likes to be called "River."

He wrote:

"I don't know if you realize the impact you have on people's lives here. Some people go years without ever getting a single piece of
mail. When you set them up with a person who writes them, their whole outlook on life changes. So thank you for what you and the organization is doing. To show my gratitude, I wrote this poem.

FRIENDS

Don't ever stop and wonder
Why you have found a friend,
Someone to believe in
Unitl the bitter end.

Don't ever think I'll let you down,
At the time you feel the fall,
And know that you can count on me
To see you through it all

Friends are like a precious stone.
You can count them on one hand,
But I'm your friend because I am,
I'm the one who understands.

So even though these prison walls
Are way too high to break
Just remember who you are
For every chance you take.

Don't ever stop and wonder how
Your world turns upside down.
Just cherish every friend you have
Knowing what you've found.

I've never lied or left you there
Where you could not be free,
So when you really need a friend,
I hope you think of me."

I know that to some, letters don't seem like much, but they are so
appreciated.
