With great excitement, Amma's Seattle children welcomed Her arrival to the Pacific Northwest with tears of joy and gratitude. Just after landing at the Seattle airport, Amma was taken to the home of a Seattle devotee, where lush greenery and blooming plants reflected the many hours that had been lovingly spent preparing for Her to come.

As one of Amma's senior disciples once mentioned, Amma is laughter, and whereever Amma is, mirth and joy are never far behind. At the devotee's home, Amma sat radiantly in the middle, with Her children gathered around Her feet, laughing and joking as any mother would at the happy reunion. As most of the devotees sat captivated by the bliss of Amma's presence, She was enquiring Her children's welfare. With Her conversations, she told many jokes mentioning, Her wish was to hear Her children's laughter and see their smile. An incident occurred then which deeply touched the hearts of the Seattle devotees. While serving lunch, talking and jesting with Her children, suddenly She remembered a devotee who had passed away last year after Amma's tour. The devotees had felt his loss each in their own way, and as they stood mesmerized, Amma proceeded to keep a separate plate for him and requested everyone to remember him before they ate. With moist eyes and thankful hearts the Seattle devotees beheld the Mother's heart that held fast onto one son who was no longer in sight.
