City of Kingston welcomes Amma
Kingston, Melbourne
Amma's first public program in Melbourne began today with people
pouring into the program since morning. The evening program commenced
with a warm welcome from the Aboriginal leader Mr. Ian Hunter ,
the leader of the Warangee tribe.
The Mayor of the City of Kingston, Melbourne then came forward
to extend his welcome to Amma. He said, " I specially welcome
Amma who has embraced the world. It is a privilege to have Amma
here." He said that Amma shares her love and compassion with
humanity and has dedicated her life to serving all. He further added
that Amma who embraces all, has also come to embrace his city which
has the virtue of cultural diversity and harmony.
This warm welcome note from the Mayor was followed by a concluding
speech by T. J. Rao, Honorary General Consular for India in Australia.
He said, " Amma is known for her unconditional love, compassion
and as an emissary for peace. That is why most of us are here today."
He gave a brief introduction of Amma's various humanitarian activities
and her contribution in the international stage.
He concluded saying, " Amma is a great Humanitarian. I wish
there are more spiritual leaders doing such service. I salute you
Amma for your great service."
There was a loud applause and the public program began with Swamini
Krishnamritaprana's satsang followed by an inspiring talk by Amma
and bhajans. People then eagerly lined up for their precious hug
of a lifetime.
