A Token and Four Chocolates

Dallas , July 5, 2004

Amma says she knows our hearts, that our every thought, in fact, passes through her. All Amma's children have had experiences testifying to this, moments when Amma reveals that she knows exactly what we've been thinking or feeling - or even some times what we've just done.

During Amma's programs in Dallas, one of her children decided he would not go for Amma's darshan. He felt the crowd was too large and, even though he was leaving the tour for a number of days, he would soon see Amma again in Chicago.

As the night wore on and he watched Amma giving her love freely to all who came to her, the man began to feel quite sad. Four days was beginning to seem a long time to be away from Amma. He really wished he could go for darshan, but as he had not taken a darshan token earlier and darshan was almost finished, he could not come for Amma's blessing.

Then suddenly a boy came up to the man and told him that he had an extra darshan token and asked him if he wanted it. The man happily accepted and rushed into the darshan line.

When he came into Amma's arms, Amma showered him with love and affection. "Amma knows how sad you are to be leaving the tour," she said, and then grabbing blindly into a plate full of Hershey's Kisses, handed him exactly four. "Here is one chocolate for each day you will be away from Amma," She said. "Each day you are away from me, eat one chocolate."

The man appeared overcome with joy and wonder. Speaking to another devotee, he said, "I feel so comforted to know that whether I express my feelings or not to Amma, she is always there for me."
