Earlier report from Santa Fe

Santa Fe, New Mexico
This is the location of Amma's second ashram in the United States and entering it for the first time, one can easily see why. The ashram is set on a mountaintop 8000 ft above sea level. The air is untouched by the ravages of city life. Native American touches abound and a rustic spiritual ambience prevails everywhere... The mind itself slows down some as we drive up the mountain for Amma's first program here this summer.
Water here is a scarce commodity, and the rains are anxiously awaited every year. Surprisingly enough, every year that Amma comes to Santa Fe , it rains abundantly and now it is a prevalent belief that Amma brings the rain with her. This year too was no disappointment - as Amma's morning program wound up, black clouds lined the horizon and the whole afternoon raged and thundered with pouring rain. The next day too the rain persisted; as though unwilling to leave its Mother, it too hung around quietly, serving as a gentle, steady background beat as Amma sang the evening bhajans.
Expanding the treasury of languages in which she sings bhajans, Amma sang 'Ishwar tumhi' in Arabic, Spanish and Hebrew and 'Anantamami' in Hebrew. At the end, the tear-streaked faces of those who spoke these languages as native tongues said it all...
As the program drew on, a girl of about 10 years, happily told everyone who would listen that Amma had brought back her cat... We had smiles on our faces as we prepared to listen to this story.
The domestic cat had been lost a year ago and the family had tried its best to find it. They had put signs up over and over for the cat's safe return, with no result. They frequented the local animal shelter checking often whether the cat had been rescued or turned in. The child firmly believed that Amma would bring back her cat and hence prayed for its safe return everyday.
Wild country that it is here, coyotes seize any animal that is left in the open. Survival in the wild is next to impossible. Yet, a year later, the day after the family received darshan from Amma, the animal shelter called the girl's house saying that a cat resembling hers had been found. Sure enough it was the missing cat... a little roughed up, but no doubt the same one! How it had survived for a year in the wild is a mystery that still remains to be solved.
True and innocent prayer never goes unanswered... it matters not what we ask for. When the prayer comes from the heart with faith and devotion, God will answer and circumstances shape themselves in a way that make the impossible possible.
