Good words, deeds and thoughts...
There were many bathers in the Amma river in Toronto, eager and
hopeful that they too could perhaps learn to smile that eternal
blessed smile that comes from Amma. The smile that doesn’t
fade, that dismisses all sorrows.
Her return flight to India was long and had many connections.
During one
such short break in Zurich, Amma got to see some of her children
travelling to India on various flights. The feeding of her children
is undoubtedly a prime motherly characteristic, and Amma was no
different when she expressed concern that no one had eaten well.
Instead of getting some rest, then, Amma started serving the food
given to her by some of the European devotees. She made the younger
ones in the group sit near her and made sure they ate well.
In Colombo, Amma advised a group of youths, "My dear ones,
remember that the good words, good deeds and good thoughts that
you nurture will be the main instruments for you to receive God's
grace."
Though these are the words she constantly repeats, the power with
which she delivered the words and the faith with which the youths
absorbed them would surely have created an impact on their minds.
Indeed, the very next day one boy, known for his short temper,
thought twice before he blurted something out. "Better that
I speak carefully than with haste," he explained.
