Amma Center Community Service

Amma Center of NM continues community service in safer style for Covid. For decades volunteers cook meals twice monthly at local shelters. Since COVID the Center has volunteers that cook a portion of the meal and safely drop off the food outside for a no-contact delivery to the delight of the homeless who are staying there.  The sponsors of this ongoing effort did not want to stop the flow of lovingly prepared food to those in need- even through the pandemic. And it gives satsang members a way to do seva safely.

Amma Center of NM is responding to the needs of several thousand Afghan refugees recently flown into New Mexico and hosted at an Air Force Base a few hours away.  Last week we gathered a large amount of  clothing and requested useful items. The donations were then delivered to a location for transport to the Air Force base. This effort is planned to continue through the fall as more refugees will be arriving along with colder weather. Satsang members are feeling fortunate, because these refugees are coming to New Mexico, thus we have a very tangible way to put Amma’s teaching of compassionate service into practice.
